Soil is not Dirt

"Soil is not Dirt" is a fun practical workshop designed and delivered by a PhD qualified professional Dr Aga Piwowarczyk specialising in environmental and soil sciences. It is facilitated through myself, Trisha MacLaughlin from Sligo Woodland School.

We would like to offer all members and friends to come and take part in “Soil is not dirt”. The aim of the workshop is to explore and expand knowledge about a hidden part of every natural and urban ecosystem called 'soil'. Soil is a fundamental part of everyday life, thanks to soils we have food on table, oxygen to breathe and clean drinking water. We will learn about the most important soil characteristics with hands-on activities, have a unique opportunity to test soil pH and how it is measured and understand consequences on water quality.

The workshop will take place in Sligo Children's Community Garden, F91X314 on Wednesday the 19th from 4pm to 5,30pm.

The main content is most suitable for 6-16yrs but all of the family are welcome to come explore and learn. All children must be accompanied by an adult and children must be under parents or carers supervision at all times.

You must be a paid member to attend, membership can be paid through our website in the members section.
